Fedora Core 6 stores the device mapper information about the mirror inside the 'init' file which is located inside the initial ramdisk. This creates a problem if your mirror fails because you have to boot from the fc6 media and type linux rescue. Then you can manually activate dmraid, mount your volumes, and recreate the initial ramdisk file using mkinitrd (not all that easy a task in text mode. Also you have to manually mount the /proc and /sys filesystems as well or it won't update the device mapper info). The recommended solution would be to replace the failed drive, use your raid bios to re-mirror it, and then it should work again.
