They seem to have no concept of "new features" and how to showcase these new features. For the new FEL website it would be nice if we can upload our own screenshots running under fedora. I can create a mockup of how i would like it to be shown. Examples is another weak point. Most packages don't install examples or don't include a shortcut to examples. It would be nice if we can have a Examples submenu for each package. Being able to run the examples is a very good startup towards learning the application. The design's complexity scores are useful to verification teams so as to efficiently focus resources based on the dynamic complexity profile of a design. The scores are a useful tool to guide HDL designer's refactoring efforts. This data provides an efficient way to "come up to speed", by pointing you to the most important modules of a legacy design. Importantly, the complexity scores allow managers to estimate schedules and resources in a more robust and effective way than any one standard metric can provide (SLOC for example). -- Ticket URL: Fedora Electronic Lab Design, Simulate and Program electronics. Is it feasible to migrate the dgc sources to herb design flow? I think it would be a great win-only situation if "herb" can obsolete both dgc and alliance. DGC seems to be similar to SIS and Alliance's BOOG tool. I'll take a look at its sources in more detail. For Herb, we'd be using a simple mapper to begin with. Also, if you are looking to add more VLSI tools into FEL, you should look at packaging the alternative Berkeley flow too. If you don?t know it, Arduino (http://www.arduino.cc) is an open-source electronics prototyping platform based on flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software. It can sense the environment by receiving input from a variety of sensors and can affect its surroundings by controlling lights, motors, and other actuators. The microcontroller on the board is programmed using the Arduino programming language (based on GPL Wiring -http://www.wiring.org.co-) and the Arduino development environment (based on GPL/LGPL Processing -http://www.processing.org-). Arduino projects can be stand-alone or they can communicate with software on running on a computer. The boards can be built by hand or purchased preassembled; the software can be downloaded for free. The hardware reference designs (CAD files) are available under an open-source license, you are free to adapt them to your needs (you can see http://arduino.cc/en/Main/Hardware and http://arduino.cc/en/Main/Policy). I think it would be very nice is Fedora could incorporate Arduino IDE out- of-the-box. You can download it from http://arduino.cc/en/Main/Software, and you can see dependencies requirements at http://www.arduino.cc/playground/Learning/Linux (specific intructions for Fedora 11 are written at http://www.arduino.cc/playground/Linux/Fedora) If you want, you can gather more information from the official web. -Board reference: http://arduino.cc/en/Reference/Board -Language reference: http://arduino.cc/en/Reference/HomePage -Language reference (extended): http://arduino.cc/en/Reference/Extended -Code examples: http://arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/HomePage -Extra Libraries: http://arduino.cc/en/Reference/Libraries -Other resources: http://arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/Links -Projects of the community: http://www.arduino.cc/playground/ -For developing Arduino in deep: http://www.arduino.cc/en/Hacking/HomePage -Forum: http://www.arduino.cc/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl Thanks a lot! -- Ticket URL: Fedora Electronic Lab Design, Simulate and Program electronics. Hello there, It remains a fedora 'OS' specific issue and not FEL related. By default software under FEL umbrella don't influence any boot parameters. It seems to be a computer hardware specific issue which possibly hasn't gone under testing. Please report this to the fedora user mailing list. Fedora OS developers are monitoring its traffic with respect to hardware issues so that they can be fixed and push to updates. Therefore it is wise to update your system regularly. Screenshots will be appreciated as well. regards, Chitlesh On Thu, Nov 5, 2009 at 9:53 AM, Chitlesh GOORAH <> wrote: > Hello there, > > I've revamped the wiki entirely > https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-electronic-lab/ > > It is now categorised into 3 groups : > * developers > * users > * marketers > > I think that frontpage pretty much sketch out the basic things we need > to convey to these 3 categories. I would like to ask you, Fedora Ambassadors, whether you can do the same, if you have to chance to meet key people at your local university. We have some slides of previous events here (together with an openoffice template): http://spins.fedoraproject.org/fel#publications Feel free to use them and let us know about your coverage :) FEL : http://spins.fedoraproject.org/fel thank you, Chitlesh From chitlesh.goorah at gmail.com Mon Nov 30 08:06:04 2009 From: chitlesh.goorah at gmail.com (Chitlesh GOORAH) Date: Mon, 30 Nov 2009 09:06:04 +0100 Subject: [Fedora-electronic-lab] Re: Fedora Electronic Lab presentation at JM2L This friday In-Reply-To: <50baabb30911251222y36e6dc42o5b910feb8f540bfb@mail.gmail.com> References: <50baabb30911251222y36e6dc42o5b910feb8f540bfb@mail.gmail.com> Message-ID: <50baabb30911300006l483049dfs235205977f1fd536@mail.gmail.com> Hello there, In the blog post below, you will find Laurent Charpentier's report about the 2 days event in Sophia-Antipolis, France last weekend: http://chitlesh.wordpress.com/2009/11/30/report-from-france-fel-at-jm2l-nov-27-28-2009/ Cheers, Chitlesh On Wed, Nov 25, 2009 at 9:22 PM, Chitlesh GOORAH < > wrote: > Hello there, > > It is with great pleasure I'm announcing that Laurent Charpentier will > held a presentation about Fedora Electronic Lab this Friday at 16:00 > in Sophia-Antipolis. > > http://jm2l.linux-azur.org/Fedora-Electronic-Lab > > About FEL : http://spins.fedoraproject.org/fel/ > > Kind regards, > Chitlesh > > PS: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Events needs some cleanup. > From trac at fedorahosted.org Mon Nov 30 14:58:50 2009 From: trac at fedorahosted.org (Fedora Electronic Lab) Date: Mon, 30 Nov 2009 14:58:50 -0000 Subject: [Fedora-electronic-lab] [Fedora Electronic Lab] #78: Need EDIF 300 files for xcircuit feature Message-ID: <066.0eed2f99e74c9ce84119ab4a30f6ac80@fedorahosted.org> #78: Need EDIF 300 files for xcircuit feature ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- Reporter: chitlesh | Owner: shakthimaan Type: enhancement | Status: new Priority: major | Milestone: Upstream Component: Starter task | Version: devel Keywords: xcircuit, edif | ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- = problem = Xcircuit is currently missing the support for EDIF 300. = enhancement recommendation = Since upstream and I don't have a license for edif 300 output, we can't do much. However the interoperability between dgc and xcircuit is broken with respect import of EDIF 200. = bug analysis = This is fairly a small improvement on the existing xcircuit sources. You will find EDIF 200 files from both cadence and dgc here : https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-electronic-lab/wiki/Analog/xcircuit = fix recommendation = $ yumdownloader --source xcircuit $ rpmdev-extract xcircuit [TAB] you will have the source of xcircuit and have a look at the edif.tcl file. -- Ticket URL: Fedora Electronic Lab Design, Simulate and Program electronics.
