I admit that agistudio should complain that viewdir is not a valid view file rather then try to read it and create an invalid view (looking empty, but take a look at the number of loops and cells!) The correct method to add a new really empty view is to go to tools->view editor, which will give you an editor with a truely empty view. Then you can save this with "file->save to game" in the view editor Or you can copy an existing view by first editing it from the resources window and then choose "file->save to game as" Regards, Hans From limb at jcomserv.net Thu May 3 11:36:20 2007 From: limb at jcomserv.net (Jon Ciesla) Date: Thu, 3 May 2007 06:36:20 -0500 (CDT) Subject: FreeSCI In-Reply-To: <4638F4E9.6000708@hhs.nl> References: <19544.65.192.24.190.1177598524.squirrel@mail.jcomserv.net> <34833.65.192.24.190.1177677851.squirrel@mail.jcomserv.net> <4631F5EB.1090303@hhs.nl> <64659.65.192.24.190.1177700288.squirrel@mail.jcomserv.net> <2845.65.192.24.190.1177703145.squirrel@mail.jcomserv.net> <21729.216.9.250.6.1177723523.squirrel@mail.jcomserv.net> <4632E945.9050506@hhs.nl> <10967.65.192.24.190.1177939760.squirrel@mail.jcomserv.net> <4635FA61.4000501@hhs.nl> <14250.65.192.24.190.1177941798.squirrel@mail.jcomserv.net> <463600CC.5050700@hhs.nl> <23989.65.192.24.190.1177944708.squirrel@mail.jcomserv.net> <463655EB.3070801@hhs.nl> <9873.65.192.24.190.1178038639.squirrel@mail.jcomserv.net> <46377E50.3070906@hhs.nl> <13363.65.192.24.190.1178041307.squirrel@mail.jcomserv.net> <4638EE52.70908@hhs.nl> <50326.65.192.24.190.1178135460.squirrel@mail.jcomserv.net> <4638F4E9.6000708@hhs.nl> Message-ID: <24629.65.192.24.190.1178192180.squirrel@mail.jcomserv.net> So, essentially, I totally misunderstood the AGI file format. :) Oops. :) I'll get reviews ready. I'm not 100% comfortable with this as nagi could be concidered an emulator (its not but its close), and then it would need to follow the emulator guidelines. The big problem here is that games like Larry and Space quest are big commercial hits, and that although they had almost 0 copy protection, Sierra could still try to claim that AGI interpreters circumvention some level of copy protection / in some way are contributory copyright infringement. I know this is a long shot, but it still worries me. I know very well that this could still happen if we have freely distributable games, but then atleast we have signicant non infring use. I see 2 solutions here: 1) Ask Tom "spot" Callaway , if he says its ok its ok, explain that nagi is needed for agi studio, and thus has some use outside of any free content 2) Contact freeware AGI Games Authors and get a free distribution permission from them I would think 1) is the best, because even if we have 2) I would still like to see Tom's approval for this. I personally think a CD distro is pointless, but yes, lets start with a DVD concept first. How much space do all packaged games and all their dependencies in devel currently require? From j.w.r.degoede at hhs.nl Fri May 11 19:08:51 2007 From: j.w.r.degoede at hhs.nl (Hans de Goede) Date: Fri, 11 May 2007 21:08:51 +0200 Subject: Please put games you package in comps Message-ID: <4644BF43.8080603@hhs.nl> Hi All, In order for any packages, you've packaged (including games!) to show up under the Add/Remove software application (pirut), you must add them to comps. checkout the "comps" module from cvs, and edit the .xml.in files for the Fedora releases for which you've build the package. Search a suitable category and it it there. For games always use type="optional". I've just added the following list, including a number of games I was aware of not maintained by me: taxipilot flightgear pipepanic penguin-command vegastrike widelands freetennis Since this demonstrates that not everyone is aware that they should use comps, I'm sending this general reminder to the games-list. Please check that all your packages are listed in comps (for as far as end users may want to directly install them, so for example don't add libraries). Notice that you can easily find out if you have any packages missing from comps by looking here (in as far as that is up to date): http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/PackageMaintainers/PackageStatus#head-e83a47eb0097eaa3765fb33c1cdf1c94932d1acd Regards, Hans From musuruan at gmail.com Fri May 11 19:08:48 2007 From: musuruan at gmail.com (Andrea Musuruane) Date: Fri, 11 May 2007 21:08:48 +0200 Subject: Please put games you package in comps In-Reply-To: <4644BF43.8080603@hhs.nl> References: <4644BF43.8080603@hhs.nl> Message-ID: <29fee02b0705111208r38d0cb30p5a4f1280e5127d45@mail.gmail.com> 2007/5/11, Hans de Goede : > I've just added the following list, including a number of games I was aware of > not maintained by me: > taxipilot > flightgear > pipepanic > penguin-command > vegastrike > widelands > freetennis Thank you.
