[Fedora-ia64-list] generating images

Starting again from the top, since this conversation is going nowhere
fast...

Dan is trying to install an ia64 system, booting over the network
using the images available from
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/development/ia64/os/images/

The problem is that the kernel is broken for serial consoles, as
reported on this list last week, and filed yesterday as BZ 198516.
Consequently, he finds himself needing to build new net-boot images,
specifically vmlinuz and ramdisk.img.

So he has rebuilt kernel.rpm with CONFIG_PNPACPI=y, yielding a new
vmlinuz, but doesn't know how to regenerate ramdisk.img which is also
needed.  I don't know either.  Could you shed some light on how to do
that?
