[Fedora-ia64-list] SCSI DVD errors on F7-test4?

All,

I am about to file a BZ on this but thought I would drop a line here in
case others were seeing something. I thought this was just a bad DVD
drive at first but after repeated attempts on 2 machines I realize it
isn't...

When installing F7-test4 via a SCSI DVD the install fails partway
through due to not being able to read packages. Dropping to a shell to
look at dmesg I see a large number of scsi errors:

<3>Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 535930
<3>Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 535931
<6>sr 1:0:2:0: SCSI error: return code = 0x00020008
<4>end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 2598648
<6>sr 1:0:2:0: SCSI error: return code = 0x00020008
<4>end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 2598808
<6>sr 1:0:2:0: SCSI error: return code = 0x00020008
<4>end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 4927444
<6>sr 1:0:2:0: SCSI error: return code = 0x00020008
<4>end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 4927604
<6>sr 1:0:2:0: SCSI error: return code = 0x00020008
<4>end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 498672

... and so on ...

Note that this doesn't affect the low to midrange HP ia64 systems
(rx26xx, rx46xx series systems) since they have IDE cd/dvd drives.

Has anybody else seen this issue? If so let me know as more data will
be helpful in filing the BZ.

- Doug
