<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I'm trying to build a MythTV box, and I
found a really nice install guide at <A
href="http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/">http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/</A>. My problem
is when I try to install Fedora Core 1, the install crashes right after Anaconda
tries to start X. I get "install exited abnormally" .... "now safe to reboot".
So I tried a text based install. This worked fine until I hit the "Reading
Package Information" screen right before you get to pick your packages. Then I
got the "install exited abnormally" message again. This happened 3 times before
I started looking into hardware and media checks. My cd's check out OK.
Since then, the install likes to crash in various places, e.g. before you
partition the drives, set up networking, etc. etc. I tried to install RedHat 9,
and it does some of the similar things Fedora does.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I'm wondering if my motherboard is at fault,
because this is the only hardware I haven't swaped out.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>MSI 845GV (MS-6714) Motherboard, no AGP

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>P4 1.7 GHZ 400 MHZ FSB</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>No other cards in any of the PCI slots yet.
