I have installed RealPlayer8 from ftp://apt.kde-redhat.org/kde-redhat/fedora/all/RPMS.stable/RealPlayer8-8.0.3.412-6.fdr.0.i386.rpm as recommended by http://www.jeremythompson.uklinux.net/Fed-C1/Sound.html. I have also installed RealPlayer8-plugin-8.0.3.412-6.fdr.0.i386.rpm from the same site. I have configured RealPlayer to run with ESD. When I start realplay, there are startup sounds indicating that it works. However when I click on a music link from a website and indicate that /usr/lib/RealPlayer8/realplay should be used, a RealPlayer window appears, Contacting ... appears in the progress window for a minute or so and then a dialog appears stating Cannot open the audio device. Another application may be using it. This is the symptom that http://www.jeremythompson.uklinux.net/Fed-C1/Sound.html indicated was solved with the RPM it recommended. I am running Fedora Core 1. ________________________________________________________________________ Clair Garman 301-270-2248 Takoma Park, MD Sometimes I think I understand everything, then I regain consciousness.
