address the Alcatel modem. It [the modem] has some quirks that make
this tricky. Some guys at sf have created a shell script config utility
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://sourceforge.net/projects/speedtouchconf/">http://sourceforge.net/projects/speedtouchconf/</a> you might want to try
this (I haven't, so can't comment).<br>

I followed the howto included in the sf driver package. It really is a
very good how-to and will explain everything you need to know. Do read
it. I followed it and my modem works a treat. The how-to also has a
mailing list link if you still run into difficulties.<br>
