Are you sure? What do you get with rpm -q gdm gdm is the default desktop manager with Fedora even if you only install KDE. What does cat /etc/sysconfig/desktop say? > is there someway maybe i can restore the kde greeter to "factory" settings? There is no handy backup in /etc/kde/kdm unfortunately.
