I had other odd things happen with this FC5 installation and thought it was merely related to those peculiarities? In fact I did the installation twice since it did not offer me a chance to select the applications I wanted? I had installed FC5 from the same DVD on another computer via my LAN connection while this one ran FC4 and that went as expected, a normal install without problems. </pre> </blockquote> <pre wrap="">So did you do a clean install here? or was it an upgrade? There are some inconsistencies that are seen when doing an upgrade because not everything gets put in place new. I had already copied all the DVD files to the hard drive and used that to install to the first computer, box4, but I figured I couldn't very well install to itself via that route on this computer, box1? So I did a new install from the DVD. Problem was box4 had a CD drive that could not read a DVD and I was reluctant to try FC5 on this computer first. For what ever reason it did not let me select applications or create a user. When done I only had root, had to add bobg later? The box4 install worked normally as have all the others I have done over the years. BobG </body> </html>
