I'm totally unsure of what would be the next steps to correct that situation. The simplest solution was to tell the OS to always keep my monitor on. This, in the long term, is not a great value since I will lose it faster (the screen is expected to last x days active, if I keep it always active, it will run about one third of the time). but for now, I will not have to unplug it totally and replug it each time.
