Laptop is IBM T42 with ATI R350 video card. </blockquote> </blockquote> While the bluttooth mouse "wakes" up enuff I can see typing in the screen - there is no mouse pointer and the focus remained in the same window - ie mouse has no effect at all except to wake to move the screen from a tottally black to a faint images behind state.
