I had the same problem when I upgraded to alsa 1.0.18 (kernel 159 comes with alsa 1.0.18a and 134 with alsa 1.0.17). The fix for my card is available in the latest alsa tarball. Unfortunately, it is not compiling anymore for the new kernel, due to some symbols that appeared in the new kernel (back ported from kernel 2.6.28, I guess).
