[Fedora-users-br] Erro do yum

[Herminio E. Piram]

Bom dia pessoal, hj pela manha fui instalar o proftpd pelo yum e ele
retornou
a seguinte msg:

[root em Hermelixxx hermis]# yum install proftpd
Could not retrieve mirrorlist
http://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/mirrorlist?repo=fedora-8&arch=i386 error
was
[Errno 4] IOError: <urlopen error (-2, 'Name or service not known')>
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository:
fedora. Please verify its path and try again

Sempre que preciso instalar alguma coisa uso o yum, mas hj ele nao quis
funcionar,
e o pior é que nao sei instalar as coisas.tar.gz

Alguem pode me ajudar?
