The issue, however, is that when they boot the keyboards and mice won't work. I've used old mac keyboards, new dell keyboards, and even new Mac keyboards - so I'm pretty certain it's not the hardware. Is there something I need to enter in the ltsp.conf to set the keyboard layout for these machines? Thanks for any pointers! Yes, because I don't know what is done at boot time: I can see the boot process on the monitor: "starting udev" etc. with OK everytime (so I think that tftp is working and that the client has found the kernel. But I have absolutly no information on what is wrong after: "adding permanent udev rules" OK, in the log > when a client stalls at the tftp error,it is almost certainly the nic is > not recognized exactly right by the k12linux server. As soon as I setup the bridge ltspbr0 takes the control of the dhcpd server and other clients cannot get an IP via dhcp. I don't care during the test but it will be a next step to solve this. But I maybe wrong, and it is important to not have a dhcp server on eth1 (on which the bridge is built). I am not clear on this point and I have no information about the mechanism of ltsp-dhcp which seems to be the same as the running dhcp (same pid id). Moreover, if I can see in ifcfg-ltspbr0 the IP of this interface, I have no idea about the process which gives the TC the IP address: 172.31.100.100 ??? Thanks for helping. I am lost! Have you changed from the default setting in regards to dhcp range? If this is default 192.168.0.0/ eth0 . You are receiving 172.31.100.0 on the TC? Are you right now getting a few of the clients to boot with your current config? Can you post what you have both eth0 and eth1 set to for static IP's? When you say "fast ethernet" that does not provide much info? I am guessing this TC may have an Realtek 8139 nic ,which should work without any problems. Is this(k12linux) network isolated from the rest of your network? In other words you don't have any other dhcp server touching the network of your k12linux server? Eth1 should be 'public' interface. Try reversing your cat5 wires and see if the clients boot. I do not understand if you have dhcp disabled how the clients will ever receive an ip,unless you have this client added into the dhcp.conf as a static IP? We are at least eliminating some problems,,I think. Let us know your progress Franc. The closest thing shipped in the kernel is snd-powermac, although in my experience it doesn't seem to load automatically. lspci on an Indigo PowerMac failed to display any sound devices. This might have something to do with the driver not loading. I haven't tried attempting to load it manually.
