From monteslu at cox.net Wed May 19 21:14:56 2010 From: monteslu at cox.net (Luis Montes) Date: Wed, 19 May 2010 14:14:56 -0700 Subject: summer ltsp upgrade plans Message-ID: <4BF454D0.4030407@cox.net> Curious to see if anyone else is doing upgrades this summer to Fedora13+LTSP. I spent a few years on Eric's K12LTSP, then edubuntu(for ltsp5/muekow), then back to fedora+ltsp as soon as Warren put out his first release. I was hoping to use a Centos ltsp at some point, but RHEL6 is just in beta and likely wont be done before school starts next year. Just throwing that out there and wondering the direction people are going with ltsp right now. I've got a rock solid K12LTSP 5EL setup that's getting long in the tooth. I've had good success using F12 on a personal basis, no matter how often I try to break it. A desire to run a more current Firefox, WINE, and compiz* desktops will be what finally motivates me. When F13 comes out, I'll play with it for a few weeks. I was hoping to avoid the Fedora upgrade cycle for something more graceful, but I don't think I'll be able to. Regards, William * The desktop effects may seem trivial but really helps people understand the concept of multiple workspaces when they see them rotate. Hopefully, it will help them be a little more productive. > Message: 1 > Date: Wed, 19 May 2010 14:14:56 -0700 > From: Luis Montes > To: Development discussion of K12Linux > , "Support list for opensource > software in schools." > Subject: summer ltsp upgrade plans > Message-ID: <4BF454D0.4030407 at cox.net> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed > > Curious to see if anyone else is doing upgrades this summer to > Fedora13+LTSP. > > I spent a few years on Eric's K12LTSP, then edubuntu(for ltsp5/muekow), > then back to fedora+ltsp as soon as Warren put out his first release. > > I was hoping to use a Centos ltsp at some point, but RHEL6 is just in > beta and likely wont be done before school starts next year. > > Just throwing that out there and wondering the direction people are > going with ltsp right now. > > Thanks, > > Luis > > > > ------------------------------ > > _______________________________________________ > K12Linux-devel-list mailing list > K12Linux-devel-list at redhat.com > https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/k12linux-devel-list > > End of K12Linux-devel-list Digest, Vol 24, Issue 1 > ************************************************** From franta at hanzlici.cz Mon May 24 10:09:52 2010 From: franta at hanzlici.cz (Frantisek Hanzlik) Date: Mon, 24 May 2010 12:09:52 +0200 Subject: LTSP status in Fedora 13? Message-ID: <4BFA5070.4070707@hanzlici.cz> Hello all, I few months ago come across notice that LTSP 5.2 is out: http://www.stgraber.org/2010/02/21/ltsp-52-out meantime for Ubuntu. I would like ask for LTSP status in Fedora 13 - it seems there is quite same version as in F12-updates was (5.1.95), and this version isn't installable in Fedora 13 (there are omitted some F13 specific things, e.g. directories etc). I must admit, I not well orientate oneself in current LTSP 5 events, in situation when there (it seems) isn'n clear central site and development is realized in individual distros. Please, know anyone whether there will be any movement to integration LTSP 5.2 in F13? And eventually, when there are some outstanding things, what yet have left to accomplishment thos task? I'm not big coder, but can supply with some scripting and testing. I tried installing ltsp on Fedora 13 last night. I was able in install ltsp 5.1.95 but when you try to run the ltsp-build-client you get a message that fc13 is unsupported. Hopefully this will be fixed eventually. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (Darwin) iEYEARECAAYFAkv/MiMACgkQxWV7OPa/g5EWSgCdFsOGpFE8Uvl+nXC1mzucOyCy oqAAnjWvCjgInZsOMiJpRO6ZNqbwvgE7 =vvHA -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
