Hi people,
I'm working for a school here in Brazil, and due to licensing problems,
I suggested them to migrate all the Win95 boxes to Linux with LTSP.
So, I installed one Server with RH8.0 and LTSP (+- 6 months before).
Guided by the LTSP documentation.
The box:
Athlon XP 1800+ (single)
1GB RAM DDR
HD 18GB SCSI 10k rpm
3COM Ethernet (10/100mbps) - I don't remember the model.
The major terminals are 486 with ethernet (ISA NE2000 - 10mbps). And
some K6-2 on-board (Davicom 8129(?) - 10/100mbps) and fewer P-100 (ISA
NE2000). TotaL: 25 terminals.
Due to problems with autosense of the server ethernet card or hub, i had
to change their configuration to work only at 10mbps.
And all worked, with some unstability, but worked.
After some time, due power problems, I lost all data in the server
(except some configuration files that I did backups). I had to install
everything again. So, I decided to migrate do K12LTSP.
I installed all, and got something working... except some terminals...
- The K6-2 didn't work. Aparently the vesa driver (wich were used
before, and had worked) doesn't work anymore. I Tryied the sis driver,
and got a blured(?) screen.
OBS: The on-board video card is the SIS530 (6236 chipset - not sure).
Does anyone had some suggestion for getting these K6-2 to work?
And some suggestion to segment, or get the ethernet working at 100mbps?
Remembering that the re$our$e$ are very short at these moment.
Thanks,
Mauro
PS: excuse my english if I did some mistake
