You may be shooting holes in my theory here . . .

I'm pretty sure 1.0.8 is what comes with k12ltsp 3.0.1

The upgrade I did took me to Evolution 1.2 -- I've since removed that 
package completely and so far so good.

I suppose it could also be that one of the various parts of the upgrade 
(some library or something) and that the same thing happened in a 
different apt-getting event.
