[K12OSN] Pam auth and LDAP

I need some help....I'm tyring to plan for this summer when I redo my
network.  I want to move all my file servers and authentication to another
box and export via NFS to my K12LTSP box.  How I understand it thus far is
that I set up my authentication/file server box with LDAP....perhaps
openLDAP.  Then I need to use PAM to tell the K12LTSP box to authenticate
to my "LDAP" box...right?  Ok...so now where do I find out how to do this?
 I need some direction as I want to start testing it.  Can anyone help me?
