So we're trying to change the domain name and the name of the project? I thought this was initially a name change. I think that too much focus is being spent on the FSF/Open software aspect of this project. Red Hat Linux is just as free and they don't have Open attached to the name. My argument for this is that software like Apache, which is very open, and Mozilla, which also open [source], does not have the 'Open-' moniker attached to their name.
Anybody out there running a commercial version of Unix? I wonder if the concepts in K12LTSP can be used with Solaris 9, HP UX, etc., etc. That would be interesting to see.
I feel that if we are using open source/FSF tools, then by it very nature it is free. Overstating the obvious seems redundant. Since K12LTSP has evolved into more than an educational solution, the "product" can actually split. For educational entities, Open School OS, K12 Server, EduServer, or whatever we decide. For other entities, I'm sure we can come up with a general purpose name.

Subject: Re: [K12OSN] domain names
It looks like the people who have www.openschoolsoftware.org aren't
doing much with it,
have a fairly specific audience, and would be sympathetic to the goals
of the group.
Maybe they'd be open to giving up the name to a project that already
has lots of download
links ready to go with the proviso that we'd host links to their
projects as they appear.
Just a thought.
