[K12OSN] Floppy drives...

Hi...I am the media technology librarian at the Rocky Mountain School of
Expeditionary Learning in Denver...We started running K12LTSP this year, and
so far it seems to be working pretty well for us. Currently I am having
problems with floppy drives and mtools. Most of our students are using
Windows at home, and when they try to save files being careful to save in
Microsoft formats, things often work fine. They'll take the disk home, and
for many of them they are able to open it fine at home and then bring it back.
They put the disk back in a terminal, save their files to the server and it
may or may not work. Typically, they can exchange things once or twice, and
after that, Mtools gives them a message that a:permission is denied, and
a:cannot initialize. I have considered having kids use e-mail to transport
files back and forth, and it seems as though this may be our most likely
solution for now, but I am wondering how to fix this. Given that for most
kids it works fine the first time or two, I don't know what the problem is. I
thought for a while that it was just substandard floppy disks, and have been
using scandisk to try and fix errors on disks, but that doesn't always seem to
help. Thanks for your help. I have been watching the listserve all year, but
have so far been quiet.
Thanks...
