I would recommend backing up everything.

Correct. The default theme has been changed from "win95-like" to "xp-like",
otherwise IceWM is the same.

They are included.

I've done a couple test upgrades and it worked ok. I often find that it is
quicker and easier to backup /etc/passwd, /etc/shadow, /etc/group, /home
and anything custom, and do a full re-install.
