Red Hat Linux release 7.3 (Valhalla)
Kernal: 2.4.18-27.7.xsmp
I'm using Oracle NIC computers with the K12LTSP system. Anyone out
there know of a way to determine the MAC address of the computer via Linux when
or after a user logs in?
We have a new system that I will be installing next week for 5th and 6th
graders. There will be seven classrooms and up to 300 students. Any
student can potentially log in and print from any Oracle NIC in any
classroom. I need to find a way in which printing for any specific student
will be sent to the printer in the classroom in which the student is
working. Rather than have the student select a printer--my backup plan--I
would like to bind each Oracle NIC's printing output to a specific printer
based upon the Oracle NIC's MAC address.
Printing will be through Mozilla and various Star Office
applications.
I am, of course, open to other solutions.
Thanks.
