not speed. They need a type of disk technology that will handle large
numbers of very quick reads and writes. IDE will not do this once you
get past 20 or so users, and disk I/O (IDE) avalanches heavily. SCSI is
far more robust. If you will be expanding this system any further, then
buy a hardware RAID controller. 2 drives max per SCSI channel.

Yes. or mirror two of the drives on one SCSI channel for '/' and put
/home on the other SCSI drive.
If you use a hardware raid controller, raid5 the whole lot and mount as
'/'

depends on which IMAP server you will use. uwIMAP can be slow. Cyrus
is faster.
