/rant.. ;-) I just love the epia's...
These are becoming very very widely implemented with LTSP, and work 100%
out-of-the-box. The onboard sound has been a problem right up until
this last week - where now it works very well apparently..
This particular little box
http://www.everythinglinux.com.au/item/ELS1002 is totally silent, and
fits perfectly under the monitor-stand, basically disappearing
completely.
The 533 unit is also well suited to small form-factor firewalls,
routers, print servers, etc. Use a Flash Disk for totally silent
router.
The higher-powered EPIA's make very nice little network "Video" players,
much like the old-style "video/TV trolley" except much much smaller.
Using this VIA Mobo
http://www.viamainboard.com/product/epia_m_spec.jsp?motherboardId=81
and using this http://linpvr.org/ and this http://www.mythtv.org/
software, you now have little "video player" diskless appliances that
cost exceedingly little, and are vastly easier than the old to transport
around.
There is just a whole lotta love for these EPIAs on the Internet.. 8-)
