I've seen this before, and when I had to deal with it, it turned out to be settings in nfs that were wacked. Make sure that your /etc/exports file looks something like this (this one came straight off of my server):
[microman takhisis microman]$ more /etc/exports ## LTS-begin ## # # The lines between the 'LTS-begin' and the 'LTS-end' were added # on: Wed Nov 28 11:19:42 PST 2001 by the ltsp installation script. # For more information, visit the ltsp homepage # at http://www.ltsp.org #
/opt/ltsp/i386 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0(ro,no_root_squash)
/var/opt/ltsp/swapfiles 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0(rw,no_root_squash)
# # The following entries need to be uncommented if you want # Local App support in ltsp # /home 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0(rw,no_root_squash)
## LTS-end ##
[microman takhisis microman]$
Note that I allow the entire 192.168.0.0/24 subnet for all three directories. Also note that no_root_squash is turned on. This, BTW, should be the default config, but if something got hosed, try this out.
HTH,
