FileZilla also supports SFTP, and can mix this with FTP on other servers
without the user knowing!
Ive found this very usefull as I have yet to sort annonymous SFTP

Avoid FTP whenever possible. Clear text = security problems.
You can use ssh on the server (already enabled with k12ltsp) and forward
port 22 through your firewall.
On the client, kids can use WinSCP on windows or Konqueror with fish:// on
Linux.
