Ok, does the activation key feature work with the rhnreg_ks that comes
with RHAS 2.1 support this feature? And if not, how can I get it
updated?

What it tells you is that you are using an old version of rhn_register,
the crypted password options were never implemented on the server side,
and have been removed from newer clients, they were replaced with the
Activation Keys feature.
