This bug report doesn't give much to go on, I'm afraid. Please give more 
details regarding:
- What did you do?
- What happened?
- What did you expect to happen?

It sounds like you've tried to save text in an 8-bit encoding, and have 
different codepages for input/output. How is this related to kickstart?
