I 'get it' from the balance of your message that you are not 
too keen with zenity; Out of curiousity why not gdialog, which 
has the dialog analogue, so ks/anaconda can handle both GUI 
and TUI progress stuff with similar code?  Adding 'Yet Another 
Widget' set to use seems looks a loss.
