I think because I'm in a different time zone, the IRC channel is often quiet. But I bumped into Karsten Wade last night, and it inspired me to propose a few articles: 1) An overview of open source open curricula. Meaning, open source communities negotiating and open source curriculum. 2) Issues around certification in open source communities (thorny! interesting!) 3+) Interviews with individuals who are leading open source curriculum initiatives. I have two connections now, with the PSP Open web and WASP. I'd love other examples if anyone has any. Background: This is an area I am investigating as I ease into my role as Manager of Learning Services at Acquia. This is a company in the midst of an open source community. We want to push education in the community forward. For those of you who don't know me, I've been at Red Hat almost 6 years, and I've served in various capacities including Fedora Project Leader and (currently) manager of Red Hat's Community Architecture team. One of the things that team is accountable for within Red Hat is the company's education strategy, and giving it a voice. My primary goals regarding this channel are to (a) ensure we continue to have an article pipeline that is distributed and well-edited and (b) continue to grow the roster of authors who are writing for the channel. Couple of things I'd like to use this thread for: (1) Do any of our current contributors have ideas that they are actively developing for articles? I know Matt mentioned last week that he has an idea, but that it's still in the early stages. (2) Does anyone want to brainstorm ideas for articles? What sorts of topics are you all currently reading about or thinking about in this space? (3) Do you have any suggestions or thoughts on what you'd like to see this channel discuss, from an editorial perspective? Thanks!
