Don't waste time trying to work out where the uid is located - simply use
'getent passwd 3' which will tell you which account the system is refering
to.

getent can be used to query any of passwd, group, hosts, services,
protocols or networks all of these being local administrative databases.
To verify which databases you can query using getent check the
/etc/nsswitch.conf file.
