I know I reported this before, after which is was fixed, and now it
seems broken again. The workaround stated above does not fix the problem.

Just a quick confirmation that docs should point to

Anything we change will be linked and/or redirected from that point.

Subject: [publican-list] Suggesting /usr/share/publican instead of
/usr/share/Publican
Message-ID:
Hi
I'm wondering if there's a reason why Publican puts everything in
/usr/share/Publican/. Is it a Red Hat policy to start directories in
/usr/share/ with a capital? If not, would you consider renaming it to
its lowercase version (cfr. line 173 of Build.PL in the trunk)? As an
end user I expected the files to be in /usr/share/publican/.
On line 14 of publican.spec in the trunk I have noticed the following:
# TODO after beta revert to lower case name
Does this mean that "Publican" will be renamed to "publican" in the
future, and with it the name in /usr/share/?
The reason I ask is because on Debian, most packages use directories
in lowercase in /usr/share/. FYI: on Debian I have therefore opened
bug report #545127 (see [1]); you are free to join, of course.
Best regards, and thanks for Publican.

This is correct. The use of Publican is so that people can install the
beta alongside the current shipped version and thus test the beta
without affecting their ability to do their normal work.
It's a bit of a cheat, but it was the best way I could think of to get
existing users to give the beta a spin :)

Fixed in 1.0
I built a simple book[1] with the following results:
Version 0.44 -- took 73 seconds and used between 60% and 70% CPU for most of
that time, but used 92% CPU for the final stage of the build, once Saxon was
called.
Version 1.0 -- took 3 seconds, and CPU shot up to a maximum of 40% momentarily
(less than a second).

Seems to be fixed in 0.44, but not in 1.0.
I tested this with [1], as in the original report. I had to comment out the
following line in Tapset_Reference_Guide.xml to get it to build:
However, without that line, the book built fine in 0.44 and gave me the output
illustrated in the "looking good" attachment here.
In 1.0, I get this error multiple times:
runtime error: file /usr/share/Publican/xsl/xhtml-common.xsl line 967 element
attribute
xsl:attribute: Cannot add attributes to an element if children have been
already added to the element.
and the book doesn't build.

The version of pdf.xsl installed by the BETA still contains select="0" and
therefore does not include images when both the XML and the images are in
subdirectories, as originally reported.
Changing to select="1" allows the BETA find the images and include them
correctly.
