Hello
Intel,<BR>-> -><BR>-> ->
I have downloaded the e1000 base driver source and while
creating the<BR>-> -> RPM, I received
the following error (among
others):<BR>-> -><BR>-> ->
Makefile:140: *** Warning: kernel source version
(2.4.18-3)<BR>-> -> Makefile:141:
*** does not match running kernel
(2.4.18-3smp)<BR>-> ->
Makefile:142: *** Continuing with
build,<BR>-> -> Makefile:143: ***
resulting driver may not be what you
want<BR>-> -><BR>-> ->
Now I thought there was only one kernel-source RPM for all
kernels,<BR>-> -> and I certainly have
not been able to find more than one
kernel-source<BR>-> -> RPM on the distro
CDs and on the
Internet.<BR>-> -><BR>-> ->
Can you please tell me if my assumption about there being
only<BR>-> -> one kernel-source RPM for
all kernels, e.g. UP and SMP, is correct,<BR>-> ->
and if it is then why I receive the above error and how I may
avoid<BR>-> ->
it.<BR>-> -><BR>-> -

you.<BR>-> -><BR>-> ->

<DIV>-> <BR>-> Hello,
Matthew.<BR>-><BR>-> Thank you for contacting Intel
technical support. There are as many kernel </DIV>
<DIV>-> sources as there are kernel builds - it is a
one-to-one relationship.<BR>-><BR>-> To avoid the
error, you must in fact get the kernel source for your running</DIV>
<DIV>-> kernel, i.e.
2.4.18-3smp.<BR>-><BR>-> Best
