   Now that I've actually checked Bugzilla, I see that this has
already been reported and rejected (CLOSED/WONTFIX):

   The gist is that label-based mounting is unnecessary with LVM, so
don't do it.  As I mentioned before, using a meaningful name for the
LVs is the working, and suggested, solution.
   It still seems that mkinitrd should cough up an error in this
case.  I'd guess, though, that detecting this condition would be just
as hard as working "right", which is why it hasn't been done.
