Fedora Core 3 and hp Proliant DL 585

I am playing with a new hp Proliant DL 585, 2xOpteron 850 and 8GB RAM.

FC3 installs nicely and upgrades too. However it usually crashes after 
some time if I run the SMP kernel. The UP kernel works well and seems 
stable. Are there any known stability issues with FC3 and SMP on the 
x86_64 platform?

And, the RAM in this machine is mounted on the CPU boards, it is possible 
to have one CPU with say 4GB and one with 6GB RAM - is this likely to 
cause problems?
