RE: restore boot block

I tried wiping the first 446 bytes and bytes 511-512 with these commands:

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda bs=446 count=1
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda bs=1 skip=510 count=2

I then did a reboot and PXE boot did not occur as expected.  The machine
just sits there not knowing what to do.

and since the blocksize above is 1, it works just fine.  come on,
folks, this ain't rocket surgery.  it's just "dd".
