Is this to fix 537390?  If so, please reference the bug number in the
subject so we all know what's going on.  Thanks.

You don't need to do this yourself.  You can just:

try:
   ipldev = anaconda.id.platform.bootDevice.disk.name
except:
   ipldev = None
