I can see the attraction in this idea, but the problem with it is that a
general-purpose updates.img which piles up all post-release fixes on top
of each other may cause problems - say some other fix that has nothing
to do with the bug you're trying to deal with causes some kind of error
for you. But hey, it'd be an option and it'd work for some people, it'd
be cool if someone decided to go and write it.

This I would be worried about because of the above issue - it's the kind
of thing someone would use just because it seemed like a good general
idea, and then maybe they hit some kind of bug (because we don't test
post-release changes to anaconda very hard) and that's bad.
