2.6.x Switching from ataraid to device mapper

Hi!
Since ataraid seems to be "dead" for kernel 2.6.

Is it possible to switch from ataraid on kernel 2.4.x raid0 to device mapper
on 2.6.x with the following "features"
- access other existing raid0 partitions (windows & Co) (is required)
- use the existing linux/ext3 Parition (no now installation) (would be fine)
- Booting direct from the dm-partion without extra non-raid partition
?

Any documentation that you would recommend?
