Dmraid "fakeraid" instructional question.

Hi, does the hardware configures with the dmraid, is a real hardware
raid, or is a software raid without any difference that the native md
raid of linux?

As far I know. dmraid creates a mapping to the unexposed raid drive to a
dev entry at the /Dev/mapper system...a and nothing else.

Were can I read a little more about what and how dev mapper works?
