dmraid & jmicron problems

Hi,
I am trying to get Ubuntu installed on my JMicron controller, however I am
having a few problems..

Leaving aside the Ubuntu specific ones I find that dmraid creates a block
device with a very strange name - it appears to be a space padded field
terminated with a ctrl-a - this makes it impossible to enter in fstab (I
believe), although I can modify the partition table with fdisk.

Unfortunately when I *do* edit it with fdisk it complains that it can't inform
the kernel of the new partition table so I will have to reboot. However even
if I do reboot I still don't get the devices for the partitions :(

I've tried making them manually but I don't know for sure what minor number to
use :) When I tried to mount my NTFS partition I got ENXIO so I guess it was
incorrect.

Thanks.

PS please CC me as I am not subscribed.
