 It seems to me that that is a build problem, assuming that you are using
 the RPM from Fedora or EPEL.

 What happens is that the specfile is missing a dependency on libselinux-
 devel, so that at build time Augeas is configured without SELinux support,
 and it never attempts to carry the SELinux context over.

 I can reproduce the above problem with the augeas-0.3.6 RPM on F10, but
 when I build from the release-0.3.6 tag in git on my dev system, the exact
 same test passes. I'll fix that in the next release (0.4.2) by fixing the
 specfile.
