 The device directive appears to come about when using an UEFI based
 system. Honestly I don't know much about it and there does not appear to
 be any documentation, the only bit I could find was here:
 http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/manual/legacy/device.html#device but that
 page states that it is only supposed to be used in the shell. I put in an
 e-mail to Peter Jones at Red Hat who seems to maintain GRUB in
 Fedora/RHEL, but haven't gotten a reply about what exactly this thing
 does.

 My main concern here is that I am not sure "file" is actually a file,
 going from the docs I found it is, but this isn't entirely clear to me.
