 Wouldn't it be better to parse the path argument into a subnode of kernel
 ? E.g. so that you get

 {{{
   { "kernel" = "/boot/multiboot" { "path" = "kernel/unix" } { "-s" } }
 }}}

 I've pulled your patches so far in commits c9046b16 and 356d5a31
