New alphacore user

Hello, all, and Merry Christmas!

After a protracted battle, I have succeeded in installing alphacore on my 
UP2000 SMP system.  This involved building a replacement 2.6.6 kernel 
under my existing RH 7.2 install.  Despite claims to the contrary, it 
seems essential to turn off "LEGACY_START_ADDRESS", even with the 
contemporary aboot.

The distro now comes up fine in UP mode, but I'm not having much success 
with an SMP build.  Before driving myself too crazy, has anyone succeeded 
in getting ANY recent 2.6.x kernel to work on a UP2000 (DP264)?  I keep 
seeing references to a module loading issue, and I think that's what it's 
down to now.  There have also been some exchanges on the kernel list 
relative to DP264 init, but none of these seem to have made it into 2.6.9 
(or 10, from what I see in the Changelog).

Any suggestions appreciated!  And, a big THANKS to everyone who 
contributed to the creation of Alphacore <g>.
