Subject: AlphaCore 1.0 final release !

Salut !

Proud to announce that me and Sergey, after a long hobby'sh development,
finaly released Alpha Core 1.0 aka "Svetlana" !

Svetlana is based on Fedora Core 3 release, it is a pure recompilation
over alpha of fedora project with additional pain to fix platform specific
things to make it work. It olso already include latest fedora 3 updates.

In short line, iso's can be grabbed from [4xCD]:
	ftp://ftp.rdsor.ro/pub/Linux/Distributions/AlphaLinux/core/1.0/iso

The MD5SUM list:

073e9c4f1173bfefb9b2c21a34dbde96 svetlana-disk1.iso
5e7082d364f850706c281ec9ee17077b svetlana-disk2.iso
50161c70f12fff7ca084f1d043242dd4 svetlana-disk3.iso
d8b755a1330dfd77bb8e962595076bbe svetlana-disk4.iso

The main 1.0 yum-'ed repos can be found in this path:
	ftp://ftp.rdsor.ro/pub/Linux/Distributions/AlphaLinux/core/1.0/alpha
The yum.conf for the online tree can be found:
ftp://ftp.rdsor.ro/pub/Linux/Distributions/AlphaLinux/core/yum.conf-1.0

The old 1.0a tree was renumbered as 1.0 so you have to update you yum
paths.

One of milestone we attained is that unlike in ac-0.9 glibc was fixed
properly so applications will run much more fine,
the kernel is olso much carefully assambled and tested on various machine,
and the install disc contains the milo flavour too
for those who's machine require it. We strongly based on released test iso's
as feedbacks wich was a very positive
surprise of successfull reactions, thanks again to axp-list members who
tested it !

After the install, the yum tool will contain the necessary paths to update
tree so we will maintain
an update repository for this release. Olso i plan a extras tree for this
release where fedora-extras packs
will be pushed.

Becouse leak of more deep tests in real world, we reserves the fact that if
a trivial bug is discovered by
anyone in the CD set we will try to rerelease this distro.

As "hall of fame" want to thanks again to Jay from HP/Compaq for providing
us lists of machine reports
and for its time for us. Thanks Jay !
Olso thanks for every happy alpha owners out there on the list !

As last words, we hope for an alphacore-2.0 release too, it will be based
on FC4, we try to put efforts to align this project
to fedora itself so all patches is moved right now into fedora mainline
tree. Sergey is working to get gcc-4 and the build toolchain
to work proper on alpha and i dream some native java stuff in future
alphacores like eg: eclipse and tomcat.

For those who want to test even now the development tree we provide a yum
config file:
ftp://ftp.rdsor.ro/pub/Linux/Distributions/AlphaLinux/core/yum.conf-devel

Happy installs for everyone !

~cristian

And again excuse me for any misstypes or horror lines,
as latin native language writer.
