FC 8 on Alpha question: GNU linker "ld -taso" option?

When dealing with software that stuffs pointers into 32-bit ints,
don't forget the personality() call.  Give it an argument for
32-bit Linux.  I had to use both -taso and personality() to get
Squeak (32-bit-only Smalltalk) working on my Alpha--on, and a
tweak of the config script so it wouldn't think the Alpha was
big endian.
