Well, I got power to the machine.
The display says 5/333, and later ADP9200. Video is a card. I threw on an LK401 that's known good, and threw some power to it. The VGA displays blue with a white blinking cursor, no SRM prompt. I've tried CTRL-C, and have pulled the disks to see if SRM will interrupt. The screen periodically flips black for a second.
I can't figure out how to get into this case. I've tried several things including a hammer and a drift. If this was PC hardware I'd have already hit it with the plasma cutter.
I can open the door on the front, but I see no heads of screws. The back is also devoid of As before, I can't drive any part of the sheetmetal back more than 1/8 of an inch.

Another one that works with both (older but maybe easier to find) is S3 trio64V or S3 trio64V+ (these can be found with 2mb vram). The latter one works with Linux as well, regarding the former one I can't remember did I ever tried it.
Permedia 3 should also work (with VMS)... if you can find one for PCI...
I f you get stuck in looking we still actually have examples of most of those kicking around here.
