Problems with CenterIcq and Debian stable

hi, someone uses Centericq regularly as me?
I have a Debian stable, both in my old and in my new machine; here (in the
old one) I use centericq 4.9.2, I got it exactly one year ago by apt-get
install, but now I realize that the stable version is 4.5.1, that gives me a
lot of trouble, that is it does not download contacts from the protocol
server (ICQ) and I don't see Jabber options, there.
I tried to compile a newer version of Centericq in my new Debian machine,
but it didn't succeed, I got problems because of ncurses libraries; someone
managed to update Centericq from debian?
